If you haven’t heard about the Israel Loves Iran campaign, please watch this video before reading the rest of this post.
Now read the response from this Iranian woman:
Hi everybody,
I am an iranian woman who lives between tehran and the united states. I want to thank you for your gesture and for voicing yourselves. I am part of a community of iranians and isrealis who actively seek to meet each other annually in parts of the middle east where we can both travel to. We are perhaps the only community of this kind. The reason for building this community is for the simple fact that we have so much fun together and realized that our cultures are so similar. We have created beautiful music together, lived beautiful memories and more. We however, have been keeping our story private so that the Iranians stay safe.
This brings me to a very important point that you need to know:
It is a very delicate matter and a risky one for an Iranian citizen living inside of Iran to express love for an Isreali. Did you know that it is written in our passports that we are not allowed to visit israel? It is one thing to say it but it is another thing that all of our passports have it printed !So my words to you are: CONTINUE to voice yourselves even if you do not hear from the Iranians as much as you would like to. The reason their response is less frequent is not because they don’t feel the same way as you do. It is because they fear for their lives if they go public with their voice. Does that make sense? Please communicate this to all your Israeli friends and family so they know it too.
I promise you that not once in my life have i EVER heard anyone in iran say that they want to bomb israel. Iranians are so preoccupied with the hardship that exists inside their country with their own government, economy, lack of freedom etc… that they seldom even think about israel! Everything that you hear on TV or the news is propaganda. It is our government’s opinion and does not in any way represent ours.
Yes, we do feel very sad for Palestinians and don’t think it’s fair for them to be in the situation that they are, but we do not have the answer for the resolution either.
What is the most important in this movement is that PEOPLE distinguish themselves from GOVERNMENTS because people are very simple and generally want peace whereas governments are invested in war and actually do not benefit from peace.
Thank you for taking the time to read this message. blessings to you all and again thank you! If you have any questions about Iran, feel free to ask me.Assal
